David Gresko

Director of Bands/Orchestra

David Gresko began teaching at Concord-Carlisle High School in August of 2012. As Director of Bands/Orchestra, his duties include conducting the CCHS Concert Band, Repertory Band, Orchestra, Jazz Bands and Pep Band.

Mr. Gresko is a native of Lynchburg, Virginia and proud alumnus of the Florida State University, where he received his bachelors degree in Music Education in 1999. From 1999-2008, he was Director of Bands for the Ashland Middle and High Schools in Ashland, Massachusetts, a western suburb of Boston. During this time, the Ashland High School ensembles performed numerous concerts at Symphony Hall (Boston) and Ozawa Hall (Tanglewood), as part of "Stars at Symphony", an honors concert that recognizes the top ensembles in the state. While in Massachusetts, he served as the Junior Festival Manager for the Central District Massachusetts Music Educators Association (CD-MMEA) and was appointed to the Executive Board of the Massachusetts Instrumental and Choral Conductors Association (MICCA), serving from 2003-2008. He was also founder/conductor of the Ashland Summer Band, a community band of over 70 local musicians that performed as part of the Ashland Summer Concert Series. In 2008, he was the recipient of the Union College "Excellence in Teaching" Award.

Mr. Gresko is also a 2010 graduate of The Ohio State University, where he received his masters degree in Wind Band Conducting. He served as conductor of the OSU University Band during the fall of 2009 and from 2008-2010 as a guest conductor for the Collegiate Winds, Symphonic Band and Wind Symphony. He also taught beginning conducting courses for music majors at OSU and assisted with the intermediate and advanced levels. His professors included Dr. Russel Mikkelson and Professor Richard Blatti. During his time at Ohio State, Mr. Gresko was the recipient of the Clare Grundman Scholarship, Outstanding Teaching Associate Award and was inducted into the Pi Kappa Lambda National Music Honor Society.

As a saxophonist, Mr. Gresko has served as the principal chair for the Florida State University Symphonic Band, The Ohio State University Wind Symphony and the Metropolitan Wind Symphony (Boston). He has studied saxophone with Professor Patrick Meighan and Professor James Hill.

Recently Mr. Gresko was invited to be the guest conductor of the (VBODA) Virginia Band and Orchestra Directors Association District VI High School Festival Concert Band. From 2010-12 Mr. Gresko was Director of Bands at Charlottesville High School in Charlottesville, Virginia. In 2011, Mr. Gresko and Charlottesville HS were the hosts for the All-Virginia Band and Orchestra Event. In 2012 Mr. Gresko returned to Massachusetts and to the MICCA Executive Board to serve as Vice-President. His professional affiliations include MENC, MMEA, MICCA, VMEA, VBODA, NBA and Phi Kappa Lambda.
